People perform their roles within complex systems called organizations. The study of organizational behavior focuses on people within the context of their organizations analyzing and understanding what they do, how they do it and the factors that affect their behavior. The aim is to provide the basis for developing HR policies and practices which will lead to improved organizational capability. It is the human factor which is contributory to the productivity hence the study of human behaviors are important thing to HR Managers.

Organizational behavior’ is the term used to describe how people within their organizations act, individually or in groups, and how organizations function, in terms of their structure, processes and culture. As noted by Wood (1995) it was first used in the late 1950s.

Ivancevich et al, (2008) said the study of human behavior, attitudes, and performance within an organizational setting; drawing on theory, methods and principles from such disciplines as psychology,
sociology, political science and cultural anthropology to learn about individuals, groups, structure and processes.

All managers and HR specialists are in the business of influencing behavior in directions that will meet business needs. An understanding of organizational processes and skills in the analysis and diagnosis of organizational behavior is therefore important.

Organizational behavior is very challenging and interesting task to HR Managers. It is the field of study that investigates the impact on individuals, groups and organizational structure have on individual behavior so that the knowledge so achieved can be suitably modified and applied for organizational effectiveness. It is the art on the part of manager to understand, describe, forecast and modify individual behavior. Various models and research instruments are available to investigate human behavior. Various fields like psychology, social psychology, anthropology, sociology, politics, economics, and medical sciences have contributed to the field of organization behavior. Keeping all the components of organizational behavior in mind, all the managers and employees of an organization must work with a proper authority responsibility relationship along with an effective decision making and supervision. so that ultimately helps to achieve organizational goals.
