THE EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP

Today, the employment relationship becomes a challenging task for the HR Managers. In the modern world, there is a more opportunity Hence there is big competition among them to enrolment the most talented employees in the companies. Therefore, good employee relationship is most important to achieve company goal as well as it helps to company success.

The employment relationship is a legal notion widely used in countries around the world for the define the relationship between an employee and an employer. The employee p,erforms work under certain conditions in return for salaries. however, the employment relationship define as follows,

  • In the UK, the Employment Rights Act (1996) defines an ‘employee’ as a person who works under a contract of employment, the tacit assumption being that ‘the employer’ is the other party to the contract. This is sometimes called ‘the pay–work bargain’. The employment relationship can additionally be defined formally by such means as procedure agreements and work rules.
  • According to CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development), Employee relations is abroad term that incorporates many issues from collective bargaining, negotiations, employment legislation to more recent considerations such as work-life balance, equal opportunities and managing diversity. It comprises of the practices or initiatives for ensuring that Employees are happy and are productive.

People are generally motivated from within, but HR and organization focus should be on what they can do to help foster the type of environment where employees thrive to give their best performance to the organization. Motivated employees have a higher level of work engagement, reduced turnover and better performance as compared to disengaged employees. Also, HR Managers and Line Managers Should trust their employers. without trust in the employer, the employment relationship becomes transactional, focused on self-interest and likely to be short-term. Employees are not committed to the organization and need to be rewarded or coerced. As HR professionals should spend more time to pay attention to employees’ problems and their ideas. And HR managers and Line Managers should respect their employees. Then, They can build-up good relationship between Employer and Employee. Since the organization success is directly linked with the performance of its employees the companies maintaining strong employee relations initiatives will benefit because their workforce is highly motivated to put their best efforts. Hence managing these relationships becomes important for business success, as strong and healthy relationships can lead to greater employee happiness and even increased productivity and finally achieve the company goal.
